black and white photographs, 210x130cm
developed in the workshop by Professor Katharina Sieverding at the Summer Academy in Salzburg, in 2005.
The photographs evoke complex and mixed feelings about women’s submission. A violence is implied in the images, but it is not obvious. The story remains fragmentary because of the cropped and decontextualised details, yet these are emotionally emphatic images. Although women’s submissive role is not so obvious today, it’s still a “man’s world” where it is bad to show any sign of weakness. Contrary to this perspective, I wanted to show the fragility of the woman’s body and the general delicateness and vulnerability.
